2017 Round Up
2017 has had its highs and lows, mostly highs. The lows have taught me how to learn and grow as a person. I've cut toxic people out of my life and made a lot of wonderful friends. The highs have been, well, god damn fantastic and brilliant and the best things ever.
Finishing my first year at Bath Spa university with a 2:1, and then starting second year and feeling super productive and on top of my game. I moved into an absolutely stunning flat with one of my favourite people (Let's forget the price of the rent. Ugh.) From September onward I've had the best time with my flatmate, we cry laugh and make stupid mistakes and cry again. We cook dinner together, grocery shop together, we venture out late at night for junk food snacks and we prance around in our pants and I couldn't ask for anything better.
My writing career (Can I call it a career yet?) has been successful. I've been writing LOADS. I wrote a Halloween themed story for Shift Zine. An article for International Women's Day and A Day in the Life post over at The Olive Fox. I'm halfway through writing a novel, with many other projects on the go.
And one more writing thing before the year is up, I sent an article to The Mighty which will be published in the new year which is super exciting, and has made me very happy and proud.
I saw You Me At Six live in April at Alexandra Palace in London. I watched Neil Hilborn perform his poetry in Bristol and listened to Jacqueline Wilson talk about her craft and life experiences in Bath.
We added a new dog to our family. She is an 8 year old chihuahua with such a calm personality. She is so so so adorable, and her bark is like a high pitched chirp. We've only had her for a week or so, and my other dog Lily is still adjusting to life with a new doggy friend.
I learned how to knit and embroider. I've made many scarves, got angry when stitches went wrong, got tangled in yarn and pricked myself with needles but it's calming and helps release tension and anxiety.
My favourite TV shows this year have been Stranger Things, Jane The Virgin, Gilmore Girls and New Girl (A rewatch but still a soul-happy funny show.)
I have loved new albums by Lorde, Haim, Paramore and Enter Shikari.
I have read 59 books. By the time this is published I hope to have reached my goal of 60. It's hard to choose favourites when you've read so many but I may sieve through them, pick out my ultimate favourites and write a post.
Overall, this year has been pretty damn great and I have high expectations for 2018 with many goals!
I hope you've had a wonderful year and have achieved something you're proud of.
